Town Elections

The Town of Atkinson follows the SB2 governed by a 5-Member Board of Selectmen.

As an SB2 Town, we hold (2) Public Meetings annually where the registered voters of Atkinson have the opportunity to have a voice in their local government. 

You can register to vote in Atkinson at the Town Clerk's Office during regular business hours (except during the state black-out periods), at a Supervisor of the Checklist Meeting, or at the polling place on election day.  For more information on registering to vote, visit the Secretary of State website

Supervisors of the Checklist Meeting:
June 4, 2024, 7:00pm-7:30pm, Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St. The supervisors will meet to update the voter checklist and to accept new voter registrations or Atkinson resident changes.

  • Current registered voters to bring photo ID and proof of domicile to change address.
  • Newly registering voters to bring proof of residence, proof of citizenship and age as well as a photo ID. More information available HERE.
  • No party affiliation changes will be accepted between June 5-September 10, 2024.

A Town Warrant is prepared by the Board of Selectmen which is posted 10-days in advance of the 1st Town Meeting - called the Deliberative Session.  The Deliberative Session is an important public meeting led by the Town Moderator where the registered voters in attendance make motions and amendments to finalize the Warrant Articles and the Budget that will end up on the upcoming Town Election Ballot.  

Citizen's can also add Articles to the Town Warrant to be included on the Town Election Ballot.   Information about the Citizen's Petition process can be found HERE along with more detailed templates available on the Citizen's Petition Warrant Article page.

2025 Board of Selectmen Deliberative Warrant

Articles that are ultimately amended (or not) at Deliberative Session will appear on the official ballot for popular vote at the Town Election on Tuesday, March 11th, 2025. Second session voting will take place at the Atkinson Community Center, 4 Main St. Polls will be open 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a final vote on all town and school officers and warrant articles. 

Absentee Ballots are available to voters who are eligible to vote absentee according to RSA 657:4.   View our Absentee Ballot Information page for more details. Applications for an Absentee Ballot can be accepted each year at the Town Clerk's Office between January 1 and 5:00pm the evening before the Town Election.
