Absentee Ballot Information - Town & State

Absentee Ballot Information: 

  • You may vote by using an absentee ballot if you meet the state's requirements and qualifications  (RSA 657:4) and are unable to vote in person because of disability, religious beliefs, military service, or because of temporary absence.  COVID-19 is not a qualification. 
  • State and Town Absentee Ballot Request Application's are available after January 1 of each year for any elections in that year, except in the case of the Presidential Primary election every 4 years.  
  • Anyone can pick up or drop off an Absentee Ballot Request Application for someone other than themselves.
  • The Application Request Application must be signed with a wet ink signature.  Digital/Electronic signatures CANNOT accepted. 
  • Request forms (once signed manually) can be faxed, emailed, mailed, or dropped off by anyone. 
  • Absentee Ballots CANNOT be handed to anyone but the voter standing in front of us.
  • Absentee Ballots cannot be applied for or returned at a Supervisors of the Checklist meeting - only to the Atkinson Town Clerk Office.
  • Atkinson DOES NOT have a Ward. Please leave that blank on the Affidavit Envelope.
  • Completed Absentee Ballots must be delivered to the Town Clerk's Office by 5:00pm the day before an election OR by 5:00pm at the polls via a Delivery Agent.  
  • A completed Absentee Ballot may be returned to the Clerk's Office OR at the polls by family member's or caregivers as outlined in RSA.  The Delivery Agent must complete this Return Absentee Ballot Form and provide a government issued ID.
