MPC June 2023 Recap

The Master Plan Committee met on June 15th at the Kimball Library.  As usual, the meeting was interesting and spirited.  The Master Plan process is in transition from gathering information to plan development.  We started by discussing the Outreach and Engagement report.  The committee is working on the draft of that report and it will be on the Master Plan Committee website after June 28.  The first 31 pages of the report tell the story of all the information that was collected at the Forum in April and from the following surveys.  The data can be found on pages 32-241. Check it out, it is very interesting. The one VERY clear message is that we want Atkinson to retain its small-town rural character.

As part of plan development, the committee and members of the Planning Board were walked through a Future Land Use Exercise.  For the first part of that exercise the group was asked to identify areas of town that are” unique” from the majority of residential areas. The Town Center, Lakes area, Maze, Main Street (From the Plaistow line going past the Post Office), Industrial/Commercial  areas and the County Club area  were pointed out for their unique character. This exercise will continue in July.

The next meeting will be July 20th at 4:30 at the Kimball Library.  As always, you are welcome.
