  • 1944 - Atkinson Fire Department established by special town meeting vote
  • 1944 - Ward Wright was elected first Fire Chief
  • 1945 - First fire station built and first fire truck hand built
  • 1946 - Red network established
  • 1947 - Clarence Kinney - 2nd Fire Chief
  • 1948 - Wilbur Moody - 3rd Fire Chief
  • 1953 - First new fire truck purchased
  • 1955 - First of 5 additions built onto the Fire Station
  • 1958 - Kenneth Hurteau - 4th Fire Chief
  • 1959 - Second addition built onto Fire Station for toilets
  • 1964 - Meredith Reynolds - 5th Fire Chief
  • 1965 - Third addition built onto Fire Station
  • 1966 - Daniel Stewart - 6th Fire Chief
  • 1969 - Roland Weeman - 7th Fire Chief
  • 1970 - Donald Murphy - 8th Fire Chief
  • 1972 - First radio paging for calls after "Red Network"
  • 1973 - Training tower built by members
  • 1974 - Fourth addition built onto Fire Station
  • 1977 - First four EMT's are trained for medical response
  • 1977 - Fifth addition built onto Fire Station
  • 1979 - First local Volunteer Department to obtain Jaws of Life
  • 1981 - John Rockwell - 9th Fire Chief
  • 1981 - Marsha Holloway - First woman Firefighter/EMT
  • 1982 - Pocket pagers fully implemented
  • 1983 - David Weymouth - 10th Fire Chief
  • 1983 - Crew stopped riding the tailboards of fire trucks
  • 1990 - Michael Murphy 11th Fire Chief
  • 1991 - First EMT-Intermediate training implemented
  • 1992 - Charter member of district Hazmat Response Team
  • 1994 - Last "converted" fire truck removed from service
  • 2000 - New fire station replaces 55 year old building
  • 2002 - Department begins Paid-Call for emergency response calls
  • 2005 - New "Quint" Fire Engine adds first Aerial Ladder capability to department
  • 2007 - Full Time Private Ambulance Service housed at Fire Station supplementing volunteers
  • 2011 - Department emergency responses grow to 575 calls including 386 medical responses
  • 2013 - New Kenworth 3000 Gallon Tanker replaces our 1986 Tanker
  • 2015 - New Engine 3 pumper tanker
  • 2018 - Department Hires First Full Time Firefighters
  • 2019 - New Squad 1 (mini pumper)
  • 2021 - Brian S Murray 12th Fire Chief
  • 2021 - Full Time Firefighters in the station 6a - 6p seven days per week
  • 2024 - Erik Thomas 13th Fire Chief - First Full Time Chief
